Accessibility

Dominion Energy Center is dedicated to providing all of our patrons with a pleasurable experience and a comfortable environment. The following information should provide you with answers to questions you may have upon visiting our facility.

Where can I purchase Accessible Seating?

Accessible seating is available by request at the Dominion Energy Center Box Office on 6th Street, by phone at 804-592-3400, and online at Etix.com by filling out a special request form for Accessible Tickets on each performance sales page. Please indicate when buying tickets if you require handicapped accessible seating.

How many tickets may I purchase?

Because seating for persons with disabilities is limited, only three additional tickets are allowed for an attendant within the same section. If other tickets are needed, they will be placed as close as possible to the disabled section.

When can I purchase Accessible Seating?

Accessible seating is available during presale (if applicable) and when tickets go on sale to the public.

Where should I enter the building?

Entrances to all of our venues are handicapped accessible. The Carpenter Theatre entrance is at the corner of 6th Street and Grace Street, and the entrance to Libby S. Gottwald Playhouse and Rhythm Hall is on Grace Street between 6th and 7th Streets.

Is there Accessible Parking?

Yes, there are accessible parking spaces available in a lot located on Grace Street across from the main entrance and a deck on the corner of 6th and Franklin Streets, which is one block away from the venue as well.

Do you offer Assisted Listening Devices?

Yes, Dominion Energy Center features infrared assistive listening systems. Due to the line-of-sight nature of the Infrared systems, they will only function inside the theater. Patrons may obtain ALS devices from the concierge desk; a valid driver’s license or photo ID will be requested as a deposit for the equipment. Assisted listening devices are only available for Dominion Energy Center events taking place in Carpenter Theatre.

We offer two types of receivers, and stock enough of each type to meet ADA requirements according to the percentage of audience capacity. The receivers we distribute most often are the stethoset variety, which includes integrated earbud-style transducers, and are worn like a stethoscope. We also offer pendant or necklace receivers, which come on their own lanyard and feature a 3.5mm (1/8") connector, which is the standard headphone connection found on smartphones, iPods, ADA ATM cash machines, etc.

We can provide these pendant receivers with inductive a neckloop, which allow compatibility with T-Coil hearing aids. These receivers are also compatible with cochlear implants featuring 3.5mm Direct Audio Input, personal headphones, or any other device which has a 3.5mm audio input.

Is this a Sensory Inclusive venue?

Yes. Kulture City sensory bags containing special KCVIP badges, fidget toys, noise canceling headphones and other resources, are available for checkout (at no cost by leaving an ID) at our Concierge desk located in the Dominion Energy Center Box Office Lobby.
